Fearing Americans are Tiring of the War on Terror, DHS Creates a “New Breed of Terrorism”

As posted on MassprivateI

According to Courthouse News (CN) article, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson warned law enforcement of a new breed of terrorism that sees people “self-radicalize.”

“As I have said many times, we are in a new phase of the global terrorist threat, requiring a whole new type of response,” Johnson said. “We have moved from a world of terrorist-directed attacks to a world that includes the threat of terrorist-inspired attacks.”

DHS propaganda is so unbelievable, they even have a guide book called “Terminology To Define Terrorists” which instructs them on how to use appropriate terminology when describing the latest terrorist threat.

Western Aggression: The Highest Form of Terrorism

By Edward S. Herman
Zmagazine

Aggression is arguably the highest form of terrorism as it invariably includes the frightening of the target populations and their leaders  as well as killing and destruction on a large scale.. The U.S. invaders of Iraq in 2003 proudly announced a “shock and awe” purpose in their opening assault, clearly designed to instill fear; that is, to terrorize the victim population along with the target security forces. And millions of Iraqis suffered in this massive enterprise. Benjamin Netanyahu himself defined terrorism as “the deliberate and systematic murder, maiming and menacing of the innocent to inspire fear for political ends.” This would seem to make both the Iraq war (2003 onward) and the serial  Israeli wars on Gaza (2008-2009; 2012; 2014)  cases of serious terrorism.

How do the  responsible U.S. and Israeli leaders escape this designation? One trick is the disclaiming of any “deliberateness” in the killing of civilians. It is “collateral damage” in the  pursuit of  proper targets (Iraqi soldiers, Hamas, etc.). .This is a factual lie, as there is overwhelming evidence that in both the Iraq and Gaza wars the  killing of civilians was on a large scale and often not comprehensible in terms of  genuine military objectives. (I give many illustrations in “’They kill reporters, don’t they?” Yes–as Part of a System of Information Control That Will Allow the Mass Killing of Civilians,” Z Magazine, December 2004. That this goes back a long way is well documented in Nick Turse’s  Kill Anything That Moves: The Real American War in Vietnam [Metropolitan, 2014]).

‘Eyewash’: How the CIA Deceives its own Workforce About Operations

By Greg Miller and Adam Goldman
Washington Post

Senior CIA officials have for years intentionally deceived parts of the agency workforce by transmitting internal memos that contain false information about operations and sources overseas, according to current and former U.S. officials who said the practice is known by the term “eyewash.”

Agency veterans described the tactic as an infrequent but important security measure, a means of protecting vital secrets by inserting fake communications into routine cable traffic while using separate channels to convey accurate information to cleared recipients.

But others cited a significant potential for abuse. Beyond the internal distrust implied by the practice, officials said there is no clear mechanism for labeling eyewash cables or distinguishing them from legitimate records being examined by the CIA’s inspector general, turned over to Congress or declassified for historians.

Is Congress Declaring War on ISIS…or on You?

By Ron Paul
Campaign for Liberty

Passage of Senator Mitch McConnell’s authorization for war against ISIS will not only lead to perpetual US wars across the globe, it will also endanger our civil and economic liberties. The measure allows the president to place troops anywhere he determines ISIS is operating. Therefore, it could be used to justify using military force against United States citizens on US territory. It may even be used to justify imposing martial law in America.

The President does not have to deploy the US military to turn America into a militarized police state, however. He can use his unlimited authority to expand programs that turn local police forces into adjuncts of the US military, and send them increasing amounts of military equipment. Using the threat of ISIS to justify increased police militarization will be enthusiastically supported by police unions, local officials, and, of course, politically-powerful defense contractors. The only opposition will come from citizens whose rights have been violated by a militarized police force that views the people as the enemy.

Oregon Standoff: Isolated Event or Sign of Things to Come?

By Ron Paul
Campaignforliberty.org

The nation’s attention turned to Oregon this week when a group calling itself Citizens for Constitutional Freedom seized control of part of a federal wildlife refuge. The citizens were protesting the harsh sentences given to members of the Hammond ranching family. The Hammonds were accused of allowing fires set on their property to spread onto federal land.

The Hammonds were prosecuted under a federal terrorism statute. This may seem odd, but many prosecutors are stretching the definition of terrorism in order to, as was the case here, apply the mandatory minimum sentences or otherwise violate defendants’ constitutional rights. The first judge to hear the case refused to grant the government’s sentencing request, saying his conscience was shocked by the thought of applying the mandatory minimums to the Hammonds. Fortunately for the government, it was able to appeal the decision to judges whose consciences were not shocked by draconian sentences.

New U.S. Online Task Force Is ‘The Greatest Threat To Free Speech America Has Ever Seen’

By Susan Duclos
All News PipeLine

The Obama administration has created yet another new task force, this one to counter “anti-militant communications,” according to Reuters, but which could and has been applied to free speech that doesn’t fit the government’s official narrative.

Under the guise of cracking down on the “unprecedented use of the Internet by jihadists,” the new group referred to as “Countering Violent Extremism Task Force,” will “integrate and harmonize” government efforts to prevent violent extremism in the United States, White House national security spokesman Ned Price said.

Officials from the Obama administration, including White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Attorney General Loretta Lynch and FBI Director James Comey and others, held talks with top tech leaders on Friday in what is being called a “technological brainstorming meeting” in what White House spokesman Josh Earnest called “ways to work together to make it even harder for terrorists or criminals to find refuge in cyberspace.”

This is a very slippery slope as Gary Franchi from Next News Network calls “The greatest threat to free speech that America has ever seen,” as he points out the ambiguity of the language and wonders if Alternative News sites, specifically those questioning the government’s policies, will be silenced.

Federal Court Rules that Bumper Stickers, Air Fresheners are Reasonable Suspicion of Criminal activity

By Site Staff
www.policesateusa.com

KINGSVILLE, TX — A panel of judges unanimously held that the presence of bumper stickers, air fresheners, and religious symbols in a vehicle can be considered “reasonable suspicion of criminal activity” during a traffic stop.

The case stems from a March 9, 2011, traffic stop that took place along U.S. Highway 77 in Kingsville, Texas.  Officer Mike Tamez of the Kingsville Police Department observed a Chevy Tahoe with a woman behind the wheel, going 2 MPH above the posted speed limit. The family vehicle had a man in the passenger seat and a young girl in the back. The vehicle’s bumper was decorated with a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) sticker and other “pro-police” decals.  There were also a few rosaries hanging from the rear view mirror, and some air fresheners visible.

From these visual clues alone, Officer Tamez “concluded that they were probably drug runners.” He pulled them over for speeding, with the premeditated intention of searching the vehicle for drugs.

Why Does the “War on Terror” Serve Western Policy?

By Jay Dyer
Jays Analysis
July 19, 2015

From Benghazi to Turkey, the ISIS “supply lines” are directly from NATO-controlled territory, and apparently it never occurs to the minds of western media to ask where, in fact, the so-called Islamic State obtains their arms.  The reason for this is obvious, as it would demonstrate that the Islamic State is not a homegrown, indigenous Wahhabist extremist group, but western creation, funded and aided like Al Qaeda since its inception, as Carter and Brzezinski openly discussed.  Not much has changed in the international terror theater since 1979, save the targets.  Counterpunch noted over a decade ago:

“Q: The former director of the CIA, Robert Gates, stated in his memoirs [“From the Shadows”], that American intelligence services began to aid the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet intervention. In this period you were the national security adviser to President Carter. You therefore played a role in this affair. Is that correct?

Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, 24 Dec 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise: Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention.”

Soul of the East

For millennia rulers have governed through stoking of fear of internal and external threats. While in tribal societies the external (and sometimes internal) threat was very real, the plebeian mind remained fixated on the dialectic of “we good, they bad.” Today man is no different – what is different is that the halls and levers of power are less visible than in ancient civilizations. The average American in our day can watch Game of Thrones, where political elites manipulate their underlings and one another on a daily basis, yet remain wholly incapable of translating these lessons into the real world.

Free-Speech Farce

By Daniel Spalding

Soul of the East

While now receding into the background of international outrages, the early January mass shooting of several Charlie Hebdo cartoonists in Paris, purportedly by a cell of jihadists, set off a furor about freedom of speech in the West. Western leaders and social media trendies righteously vowed they would cower in the face of terrorism; rather, they’d boldly utter whatever they fancied, never to be parted from their precious right. European heads of state, including François Hollande, Angela Merkel, and David Cameron, marched in protest to show that they would not cower after this attack on one of modernity’s most sacred values.
