Exactly What is the “Future of North American Integration”?

“…While most of America sleeps, special interest groups such as North American International Trade Corridor Partnership (NAITCP) [which now one year later has been eliminated and now is North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition, Inc. (NASCO)] and Central North American Trade Corridor Association (CNATCA) in collaboration with our very own federal U.S. government are planning the ‘Future of North American Integration’. They are doing this through the hidden agendas of major trade agreements that have been making the news lately, NAFTA , CAFTA , and the FTAA . (Notice on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce site it says ‘Fighting For Your Business’, well they are not kidding around, they are fighting for, AND STEALING it!)…”

While most of America sleeps, special interest groups such as North American International Trade Corridor Partnership (NAITCP)  [which now a year later has been eliminated and now is North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition, Inc. (NASCO)] and Central North American Trade Corridor Association (CNATCA) in collaboration with our very own federal U.S. government are planning the ‘Future of North American Integration’. (As can be seen on the bottom of NAITCP ‘s site). They are doing this through the hidden agendas of major trade agreements that have been making the news lately, NAFTA , CAFTA , and the FTAA . (Notice on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce site it says ‘Fighting For Your Business’, well they are not kidding around, they are fighting for, AND STEALING it!)

One of the current ‘Integration’ projects is a 2100-mile ‘Trade Corridor’ stretching from the Texas/Mexico border to Port Huron, Michigan. Starting in Texas, called the Trans Texas Corridor, this gigantic project is masked as highway project I-69 in Texas, where Gov. Rick Perry has insisted spending $183 billion on a 10-lane highway system including railroads and utility lines as a necessary future need for good of all Texans.

The entire proposed corridor is a ‘closed’ toll road system with access to and from being extremely limited. Currently, the corridor ‘Commission’ may acquire, in the name of the state, public or private real property as they determine to be necessary or convenient for the construction, enlargement or operation of the Trans Texas Corridor. The Commission can lease or sell part of the property, for any purpose, including placing on the adjoining right-of-way a gas station, garage, store, hotel, restaurant, parking facility, railroad track, or billboard under terms they set. They can even lease it back to the original owner or any other public or private entity for unrelated commercial or industrial purposes.

Putting aside the obvious concerns of emergency access across the corridor and the overall loss of local business revenue, more troublesome are the national security issues, unnecessarily large government wasteful spending, and the most important of all–the violation of the right to personal property. This is the very same personal right blatantly disregarded in the recent Supreme court decision , Kelo vs. The City of New London, which adds up to nothing more than a massive eminent domain land grab by the state. Groups such as Corridor Watch are questioning the validity of such a project, especially since this type of transportation corridor doesn’t seem to be needed in Texas, nor do Texans seem to want it. If this is the dawn of the ‘Future of North american Integration’, what will we have to look forward to after the narrow 215-217 vote passage of CAFTA? I suspect more of the same and then some. Call your local representative and voice your opinion!
